The Boulevard
Amman, Jordan

The New Amman Downtown features a pedestrian promenade dubbed the Boulevard. Faithful to Amman's historic architectural legacy rooted in development around scarce sources of water, the Boulevard stretches along a water path. Linking the sacred with the profane, the Boulevard connects the traditional blue mosaic of King Abdullah mosque on the proposed eastern piazza of the project to the high-rise towers at the western end of the project, providing a gateway to the future. The key defining structures of the Boulevard which border the water path and mix residential, commercial and leisure, were designed on three platforms linked to each other by a continuous game of terraces, stairs, suspended bridges and esplanades that gently slope down the length of the development.
